Kick-Ass-Cogs

Kick-Ass-Cogs

At a full quarter inch wide (6.35mm) at the splines, Kick-Ass-Cogs simply will not damage your free hub body the way a narrower cog can. Made of high strength 7075-T6 alloy (Stronger and harder than most common steels), Kick-Ass-Cogs are precision machined insuring perfect axial and radial alignment that compliments the superior chain lines that cassette style hubs allow.

The specially engineered tooth profile on Kick-Ass-Cogs improves both cog and chain life while minimizing drive train friction. With a Kick-Ass-Cog on your bike, you can expect a smooth, quiet drivetrain for miles to come.

Like all EndlessBikeCo. Products, Kick-Ass-Cogs are made right here in Western North Carolina; not in some faceless factory on the other side of the planet.

For the perfect chainline:

1. Chain line is best solved with calipers:
2. Measure the distance from your chain ring to the center of the seat tube
(probably 51mm)
3. Subtract this distance in millimeters (inches times 25.4) from 70mm
4. With the rear wheel in the dropouts, and nothing on the free hub body, make a pencil mark on the freehub body exactly the calculated distance in from the inside dropout face.
5. Install spacers onto the free hub body up to the pencil mark
6. Install your Kick Ass Cog, additional spacers, and lock ring
7. Go out and ride on the smoothest drive train you have ever felt!

To maximize drive train efficiency, we recommend the most inboard chain line possible by use of narrow bottom brackets and inboard mounted chain rings. Narrow chainlines put significantly less bending force on your frame’s rear end. More snap, zip, zoom!

Looking to increase drive train life AND rear end stiffness? Our high tooth count Kick-Ass-Cogs allow super smooth big gear configurations (such as 44/24) which minimize chain tension, improving both chain and gear wear, and pedal smoother to boot.

Want a better gear for pedaling to the trail? Run two chain rings up front and a 1mm spacer between two Kick-Ass-Cogs in the back for two perfect parallel single speeds! To minimize readjustment concerns, simply have the sum of each gear combo equal the other. For instance 36/15 and 32/19 (36+15=51, 32+19=51) are a great pair for pedaling from downtown Asheville to go ride Pisgah.
